If all copies of an OverDrive / Libby item are checked out, you can place a hold to "get in line" for it. You can place up to seven holds using the OverDrive website or the Libby app, or through the library catalog.

Place a hold in OverDrive / Libby:

  1. From the OverDrive site or in the Libby app, find the item you want and check the banner at the top. If it says Wait List (in OverDrive) or Place Hold (in the Libby app), that means all copies are in use.

  2. Choose Place a Hold and sign in if prompted.

  3. You will see the message: Success! and receive an email when the item is available.

Place an OverDrive / Libby hold in the catalog:

  1. Find the item in the library catalog. OverDrive / Libby items are listed as eBook or Downloadable Audiobook format. Click which you prefer...

  2. If the item says All copies in use, click on Place hold. Note: under Formats, it will indicate Libby and whether the title is available on Kindle devices.

  3. Log in if prompted.

  4. Enter or confirm your email address.

  5. Click green place hold button. You will receive an email when the item is available and have three days to borrow it.
