As of January 17, 2023, menstrual products can be found in all restrooms at branches of the Austin Public Library, and at the service desks upon request at the Central Library. This Menstrual Equity service is a result of City Council Resolution No. 20220519-089, and the products are provided by APL. Menstrual equity works to address the needs of a basic fact of life by providing affordable, accessible, and safe menstrual products, and education about the impact of period poverty.
Menstrual products are available in all public restrooms at the Austin Public Library branches, and at the service desks at the Central Library, as the library serves people with many different backgrounds and needs, including those acting as a proxy for a family member or friend, those who are transitioning/have transitioned, and those experiencing a variety of different medical circumstances.
