The Central Library at 710 West Cesar Chavez Street opened in October 2017. The Austin City Council passed a resolution to use the former Faulk Central Library as expansion space for the Austin History Center. The Austin History Center had over 50,000 square feet of archival collections packed into the 33,000 square feet Austin History Center building. The History Center is now using the former John Henry Faulk Library so it can continue to expand its collection and further its mission to preserve Austin’s history. The building retained its name, so the former John Henry Faulk Library is now the John Henry Faulk Building.
