Q. Does the library have microfilm or microfiche readers?

The Austin Public Library does not have microfilm or microfiche readers. Please check with the organizations listed below:  

• The Perry-Castañeda Library offers access to microform readers and allow personal microfilm/microfiche on their machines. Ask help at the Borrower Services Office since the machines require a login. You can reach the library at 512-495-4300.


• The Texas State Library and Archives Commission has microform readers available for public use in their Reference and Genealogy reading rooms. Printing is available for a small fee or images can be saved to a USB drive for free. You can call them at 512-463-5474 or email them at info@tsl.texas.gov.


• The Austin Texas Oak Hills Family History Center also has microform readers available for public use. Printing is available for a small fee, but hours are limited. You can call them at 512-892-6483 or email them at TX_AustinOakHills@familyhistorymail.org.


• The Austin History Center and the Briscoe Center for American History have microform readers, but they cannot be used to read personal microfilm/microfiche.
