Please review our Interlibrary Loan policy policy page before placing a request. At the bottom of that page, you'll find a link to Ask a Librarian, where you'll email us details about the book(s) you'd like to request. Customers may request two books at a time. You'll also include your library card number, your preferred Austin Public Library pick-up location, and as much information about the book as you can. Another option is to call us to request an Interlibrary Loan: 512-974-7400 (option 1).

Checking the status

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests generally take from 2 to 6 weeks to arrive at the Austin Public Library. Check the status of your ILL request through Ask a Librarian by email or text, or call us at 512-974-7400 (option 1). Please provide your name, library card number, and the ILL confirmation number we emailed you when the request was submitted.

Renewals

We are unable to renew items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan because the items do not belong to Austin Public Library.
