Yes, the Austin Public Library and many other Texas libraries participate in the statewide TexShare Card Program. Participating libraries offer free courtesy borrower privileges to library cardholders of other participating libraries.

Austin Public Library cardholders (resident and paid non-resident) who have had their Library Card for at least 6 months and are in good standing are eligible to apply in person at any Austin Public Library location. Please bring a valid photo ID, proof of address, and be prepared to clear any fines on your library account.

Your TexShare card will be mailed to you in 7-10 days and you can then take that card and photo ID to other participating libraries to obtain borrowing privileges.

Participating libraries sometimes have more limits on cards created through the TexShare Card Program. We recommend asking the participating library directly for more information on their policies. You can search for participating libraries and find contact information on Texas State Library's Find a Library page

Please see the TexShare Card section of our Library Card and Circulation Policies for additional information.
