If you can't find a title in the catalog, you have a few options:

  • Ask a Librarian by phone, email, or text to check on a title.

  • Suggest a Title to be purchased for the Library collection. Each Library cardholder may make up to four recommendations per calendar month. More information can be found on the Suggest Titles Guide

  • Make an Interlibrary Loan request for up to two print books at a time from other participating library systems with an active Austin Public Library card.

  • Use the TexShare Card Program to check out items directly from other participating public or academic library systems in Texas. Austin Public Library cardholders (resident and paid non-resident) who have had their Library Card for at least six months and are in good standing are eligible to apply in person at any Austin Public Library location.

  • Go to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to place an interlibrary loan request for up to five active requests in multiple formats (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.). Register, pick up, and return items in person at the State Library.
