You can search and apply for library jobs online through the City of Austin's Job Search site. Also, links to library jobs appear on library web page footers; look for Work for the Library.

From the city's jobs website, choose the External Applicants Only: Search and Apply for City Jobs button if you do not currently work for the City.

  • If you are a current City of Austin employee, use the Internal Applicants button.
  • Executive Level Recruitments via 3rd Party Contracts are handled in a separate process.

On the External Applicants search page, use job titles or keywords to search and/or filter by Location, Full/Part-time, Job Category, and More. Using the keyword library should bring up most of the Austin Public Library positions.

Jobs are posted as positions become available. You must apply for each position in which you're interested; we do not maintain a pool of interested applicants.

The City of Austin's Job Search home page also provides information about job titles, pay scales, departments, and benefits. Job Fairs & Hiring Events and an Application guide appear towards the bottom of the page.

For help, call the Employment Services Center at 512-978-JOBS (5627) or visit their office at 1050 E. 11th Street, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78702.
