If you've already done a search in the Catalog

Click Audience in the left-side menu of filters. If you are searching on a phone or tablet, click Red "Filter Results" button.. Clicking the red filter results box will display the limiters you may use to narrow your search results.

Check the box next to what you want; your results will automatically update.

Options to filter results by Audience include Adult, Children, and Teen.

If you are starting a new search:

Go to the Advanced Search, enter your search terms and use the Audience limiter further down the page.

"Children" is selected in the "Audience" dropdown menu.

The call number for each item includes a letter indicating a subcategory within the audience types:

Children

  • BRB – Board Books (babies, toddlers)
  • E – Picture Books (preschool)
  • E1 – Early Reader (1st to 2nd grade readers)
  • J – Primary (3rd to 5th grade readers)

Teen

  • Y – Young Adult (6th to 9th grade readers)

You can also use the Format menu to limit your search to Board Books and Picture Books.

Additionally, you can search for books by reading level for more specific reading proficiency breakdowns.
