The Library may be closed, but customers may still apply for and obtain an eCard! The eCard gives you 24/7 access to Virtual Library* resources including eBooks, downloadable eAudiobooks, streaming video and more. Best of all, the entire eCard process is done online.

eCards are available to Austin residents who are 18 years or older and who do not have an Austin Public Library Card. eCard accounts are valid for one year. Not an Austin resident? Adults who live in Texas can purchase a Non-Resident eCard for an annual fee of $22.

How to apply:

  1. Complete and submit the online eCard Application, which can be found in the eCard section of our Get a Library Card webpage.
  2. Upload an image of your photo ID and proof of current address
  3. Your application will be processed within 2-3 days and, once approved, you will be sent an email with your eCard account number. If you are a non-resident, you will be given payment instructions via email.

For questions regarding your eCard, please email circ.link@austintexas.gov or call Customer Service at 512-974-7475. Also see Library Card and Circulation Policies for additional details.

*eCard accounts cannot be used to check out or place holds on physical materials, including laptops, tablets and interlibrary loan requests.
