Q. Where do I donate items to the Austin Public Library?

The Austin Public Library appreciates the thoughtfulness of its customers who donate a variety of print and media materials to the Library. Please review the Library’s Gift Policy for terms and information before making a donation.  

Smaller donations of up to two bags or small boxes may be dropped off at the Central Library or branch locations during open hours. Larger donations are accepted by appointment only at Recycled Reads. Please visit Recycled Reads online for the full donation policy and email recycled.reads@austintexas.gov to make an appointment. 

The Austin History Center has separate gift guidelines for items of interest and items not suitable for donation. Learn more online about donating to the Austin History Center or by calling 512-974-7480.
