In response to customer requests Austin Public Library increased the number of holds from five to seven as of August 6th, 2018. With our current staffing level, we must limit each customer to seven holds to ensure that other Austin Public Library services are also maintained. In December 2017 alone, customers requested 58,938 items to be placed on hold. By limiting each customer to seven holds, we are able to find, deliver and hold large volumes of items at Austin Public Library branches across the city.
