To be eligible for a free Library Card, you must be an Austin resident living within the official Austin city limits or an Austin ETJ or LTD. For some outlying areas, you may use Austin as part of your mailing address, but it is not officially part of Austin.
To check if you're an Austin resident, use the City of Austin's Jurisdictions Web Map to see if your residence address lies within Austin's city limits. If your address description shows Austin Full Purpose, Austin 2 Mile ETJ, Austin 5 Mile ETJ, or Austin LTD, you are eligible for a resident Library Card.
