There are return slots at the three entrances to the Library that will automatically return items as they are inserted. Two book drops are located inside the Library: one near the Shoal Creek entrance (east side of the building) and one near the Cesar Chavez entrance (on the south side of the building). The other return slot is on the outside of the Library at the Second Street entrance (on the north side of the building).
The automated book drops at the Central Library look like this:
When returning items into the automated book drop, place them one at a time into the slot between the green lights. When an item has been checked in, the title will appear onscreen. You also have the option of printing a receipt showing that your items have been returned.
Do not worry if in case the machine shows error when attempting to check in your item. Staff members will manually check in items that were not successfully checked in by the machine.
