The number of hoopla checkouts per customer per month varies depending on usage. Unlike other Virtual Library services, our contract with hoopla stipulates that the Austin Public Library is charged per use of an item. When we introduced hoopla, City Council approved a finite amount of money that could be spent on hoopla. We initially set the checkout limit at six, but as hoopla has gained in popularity, more users means the funds available are diminishing more quickly.
In order to ensure that hoopla will remain available to our patrons, we have had to lower the number of checkouts allowed per month.
