To determine if we should buy the book or request it through ILL, we look at the publication date and gauge the potential popularity of the title. When the book has been published within the last few years and it’s available from our vendor, we prefer to order it because it is more cost-effective for the library. Often, but not always, it takes less time to purchase a book than it does to request it through ILL.
