Please contact the Austin Public Library branch where you returned your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) book to see if staff can locate the item. Ask them to check their non-Austin Public Library material shelf (for when customers accidentally return items belonging to other libraries). If the ILL cover was removed or fell off, staff may not have recognized it as an ILL item to clear from your account and send to our ILL office. If branch staff can't locate the item, they will initiate a system-wide search.

Why can't I request another ILL item?

Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is limited to two active book requests at a time. This includes requests, loans, and in-transit items. We are unable to place new requests until at least one book has been received and checked in by the lending library. Please allow two weeks for processing and shipping your returned ILL book(s).
