You can read Consumer Reports and the annual Buying Guide online with an active Austin Public Library Card. We have full-text articles from 1991 to the present in the MasterFILE Premier database. We also have Consumer Reports in print at all locations (typically the past two years). We do not have access to the Consumer Reports website content.
Here are the steps for finding articles online through the Library:
- Go to the Consumer Reports information page.
- Click Log in to Consumer Reports. If prompted, log in with your Library Card number.
- To browse: Click the desired year on the right and then click an issue. All articles in that issue will display.
To search (by product, topic, etc.): Click Search within this publication on the left, then click Advanced Search. Leave JN “Consumer Reports” in the top box. In the middle box, enter your search term and then click Search:
- Click HTML Full Text or PDF Full Text to read the articles.
