Please see information about the City of Austin's Youth Employment and Program Opportunities.  Some of these opportunities are paid and some are not.  Application information varies. In the Library's Summer Youth Volunteer Program, available to kids who are at least 13 years old and have completed 7th grade, volunteers typically work a 4-hour shift once per week in one of the library branches located in Austin. There are different categories of volunteer positions available for teens, some of which may provide them with experience in clerical and office tasks.

The Get Ready and Emerging Leader (leadership skill focused) information can be found at:  https://www.austintexas.gov/department/youth-and-family-services/initiatives-office  Both of these will have applications out in February.  These are a paid position with placements around the city in various city departments, private businesses, and non-profits.  The Library works with both programs.

The Travis County Summer Youth Employment program has already begun to take applications.  This is a paid position with placements around the city.  APL does not work with this program.
